Sober Events
The sober social calendar for NoVA and DC — recurring meetups, alcohol-free parties, and the festivals worth planning around. Verified October 2026.
A note on scope: these are social events for sober and sober-curious people — not recovery meetings. (AA/NA meetings exist all over the metro; they're a different thing, and we link recovery resources on our resources page.)
Recurring meetups & communities
Washington Sober Meetup
The largest general sober social group in the area — 1,400+ members. Improv nights, drum circles, and alcohol-free outings replacing the usual bar-centered social life. Also runs a WhatsApp chat for faster updates.
DC Sober Curious
Monthly alcohol-free activities for anyone who wants to meet like-minded people without pressure to drink. Smaller and more intimate than the big meetup.
Sober Supper Club DC
Curated alcohol-free dinners — communal tables of 8–30, typically ages 25–45. Explicitly a social group, not a recovery program. Usually a $15–20 RSVP fee plus your meal. Several dinners a month at restaurants across the metro.
Binge Bar sober socials
DC's alcohol-free bar hosts recurring sober socials, like the "Mocktails & Connections Happy Hour." Check their site for the current schedule.
Alcohol-free parties
Daybreaker DC
The sober morning dance party: yoga followed by a DJ-led dance session, all before 9 AM. DC editions have hit the National Geographic Museum and Flash nightclub. Yes, people dance at 7 AM. Yes, it's great.
UNBUZZED sober rave (one-off — verify before going)
A sober EDM rave that drew a real crowd. Appears to be a one-off rather than a series — worth watching in case it returns.
Annual — plan around it
Mindful Drinking Fest
The region's flagship zero-proof festival: brand tastings, mocktail demos, talks, and 1,200 people who get it. The single best proof that this scene is real — and the best place to find your people all at once.
What's missing
- No recurring NA tasting series in NoVA itself. The fest is annual and in DC.
- No explicitly sober run club found in the metro — though parkrun's free weekly 5K on Roosevelt Island is alcohol-free by nature.
- No sober comedy night marketed as such yet.
Running one of these? Tell us — we'll list it.
